ANGEL MELANSON JOINS AMC GLOBAL MEDIA AS DIRECTOR OF PROGRAMMING FOR SHUDDER: "AMC Global Media Inc. announced today that Angel Melanson has joined the company as Director of Programming for Shudder, the company's premium streaming service dedicated to genre-defining horror storytelling. In this role, Melanson will help drive Shudder’s content strategy and programming and working cross-functionally to deliver compelling experiences for the service's passionate and engaged horror fan community. Based in Los Angeles, California, Melanson reports to Courtney Thomasma, the company’s Executive Vice President of Linear and Streaming Products.

"Angel is one of the most respected and well-connected voices in the horror community, with a deep understanding of the genre, its creators and fans," said Thomasma. "Her passion, editorial instincts and unique perspective will be critical as we continue to grow Shudder and strengthen its position as the premier destination for horror fans around the world."

Melanson joins AMC Global Media from FANGORIA, where she served as Digital Editor of FANGORIA.com for more than five years, overseeing editorial strategy and daily content operations for one of horror's most iconic brands. A respected voice within the horror community, she has interviewed leading filmmakers and talent, moderated industry panels and hosted fan-focused events. Melanson is also the founder of Horror Girl Problems, a horror-focused media platform and podcast, and has previously appeared in Shudder's documentary series QUEER FOR FEAR and INTO THE DARKNESS: PART III, reflecting her longstanding connection to the brand and its audience.

Earlier in her career, Melanson held content, production and editorial roles across digital media and entertainment. She has also worked as a freelance journalist, photographer and video producer, building a multifaceted career at the intersection of storytelling, fandom and digital media.

Melanson arrives at Shudder as the service gears up for its annual “Season of Screams” programming event, the platform's biggest celebration of the year, featuring four months of new films, series, specials and live watch parties for horror fans. This year's lineup includes highly anticipated premieres such as V/H/S/MIXTAPE, HALLOWARRIOR, THE CYCLE, INFIRMARY and PARASOMNIA, along with a new season of THE CREEP TAPES, the 2026 FANGORIA CHAINSAW AWARDS, JOE BOB'S HALLOWEEN HOUSE PARTY, the return of Shudder's fan-favorite GHOUL LOG and the highly anticipated seventh season of THE BOULET BROTHERS’ DRAGULA."

THE CAT AND THE HATCHET: "THE CAT AND THE HATCHET is a twisted horror parody of The Cat in the Hat. The film follows two siblings, Ellie and Connor, whose boring day takes a terrifying turn when Scratches the Cat shows up at their house. What begins as a strange and unexpected visit quickly becomes a nightmare as Scratches reveals a twisted sense of humor that is far more sinister than anything Ellie and Connor could have imagined.

The Cat and the Hatchet is produced by Kaleb Carmichael and Mark Ricci and directed by Cameron Dodd, with production from Six Side Studios and Prime Capitol. Prime Capitol recently released the horror short SIMON SAYS, which is currently available on Tubi."
