New Chief Creative Officer Announced for El Rey Network: Press Release: "Austin, TX (November 29, 2016) – Recognized as a prime architect of its look and character, El Rey Network has promoted Skip Chaisson to chief creative officer, it was announced today by Daniel Tibbets, president & general manager of the English-language lifestyle network whose action-packed programming, relatable heroes and aspirational stories embrace today’s America.
“Skip is supremely talented. He has a long history of working on projects for the biggest Hollywood filmmakers, including Tony and Ridley Scott, Steven Spielberg, Oliver Stone, James Cameron, Jerry Bruckheimer and Robert Rodriguez. He also created El Rey’s on-air look and style, which is unlike any other network’s,” said Tibbets. “His sensibilities embrace the brand tenets and I am so pleased that he will be shepherding El Rey’s creative direction into the future.”
As chief creative officer, Chaisson will be in charge of all creative and brand elements produced by the company for the network’s linear, digital and social feeds, integral to shaping its identity and programming while building relationships with the creative community to position El Rey as a preferred destination for content creators. Chaisson will continue to serve as an executive producer for El Rey’s lucha libre wrestling series “Lucha Underground.” Chaisson will report to Tibbets.
After working on the launch of El Rey at his company, Skip Film, Chaisson joined the network in 2014 as senior vice president, creative and on-air promotion. During this time he worked to distinguish the network through an irreverent, visually compelling on-air style. He is also responsible for "Lucha Underground's" critically acclaimed vignettes. He previously was founder and principal of Skip Film, a highly regarded production company specializing in movie trailers, main titles for film and television, music videos, product advertising, sound and graphic design, and original programming.
Chaisson has well over 400 movie and television campaigns as well as commercials, specials, and series in his portfolio. He is also a recipient of numerous Key Art Awards, Golden Trailer Awards, PromaxBDA awards, and a Clio. In 2002, just a year after he opened his firm, the L.A. Times wrote, “Skip Chaisson comes as close as you can get to superstar status in the trailer-making industry.” In 2013, Vogue Italia wrote that “Chaisson is the undisputed king of trailer making.”
Chaisson has designed main titles for television and film projects including “The Good Wife,” “Numbers,” “Without A Trace” and The Taking of Pelham 123, created teasers/trailers for films such as Gravity, Prometheus, Sin City 2, Wolverine, Machete, I Am Legend, The Fantastic Four and Pirates Of The Caribbean, directed TV campaigns for “Arrow,” “Vampire Diaries” and “Reign,” and edited memorable scenes in Unstoppable, Man On Fire and Domino, as well as executive producing series for Discovery Channel, CBS, Nat Geo and OWN.
Prior to founding his own company, Chaisson worked as a director of special shoots and as editor of clutter-busting theatrical advertising for films including Mission Impossible 1 & 2, Braveheart, Titanic, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, Armageddon, Pearl Harbor and the highly stylized Gone In 60 Seconds, which effectively changed the way trailers were done.
