Thin Air Book Details and Ghost Prank Video: Press Release: Press Release: "We all love to be scared – a little bit. But what happens if you take a bunch of hardened horror fans and trap them in a room…with a real ghost?
Ahead of the launch of her brand new ghost story, Thin Air, bestselling author Michelle Paver set out to give fans a supernatural scare by doing exactly that. The aim was simple: to convince the unsuspecting victims that the ghost in the story was real – real enough to materialize in front of them. And then to see what would happen.
For this experiment in fear, Michelle recruited a leading theatrical director whose team used state-of-the-art special effects to bring the ghost off the page and into the room itself. The ghost effects were created by filming the ghost actor in a secret green-screen room next door and then projected into the audience in real-time for maximum shock impact.
The resulting prank resulted in a mad scramble for the door, with the audience shocked out of their system fearing for their lives. The door was even locked so there was no escape.
Michelle Paver said of the prank, "I've always wondered how people would react if they saw a real ghost. We got all the ingredients together, a great virtual ghost and a bunch of keen horror fans locked in a room. It was complete and utter panic. They expected a little scare, but what they got was the shock of their life."
Michelle's new book, Thin Air, is available in all book retailers and Amazon.co.uk.
Tamika hails from North Beach, Maryland, a tiny town inches from the Chesapeake Bay.She knew she wanted to be an actor after reciting a soliloquy by Sojourner Truth in front of her entire fifth grade class. Since then, she's appeared in over 20 film and television projects. In addition to acting, Tamika is the Indie Spotlight manager for Daily Dead, where she brings readers news on independent horror projects every weekend.
The first horror film Tamika watched was Child's Play. Being eight years old at the time, she remembers being so scared when Chucky came to life that she projectile vomited. It's tough for her to choose only one movie as her favorite horror film, so she picked two: Nosferatu and The Stepford Wives (1975).
