Killer Shorts Launches The Scream List: A Year-Round Discovery Platform for Emerging Horror and Dark Genre Screenwriters: "Killer Shorts, the world’s premier short horror screenplay competition, proudly announces the launch of The Scream List, a new curated discovery platform designed to connect top emerging genre writers with literary managers and producers year-round.
Unlike traditional contests that limit industry access to finalists, or other annual “lists” featuring primarily represented writers, The Scream List offers a more inclusive and ongoing opportunity for discovery. Scripts featured on the platform are vetted through Killer Shorts’ professional coverage service and selected based on strong scores, ensuring only the most promising projects make the cut.
Another defining feature of The Scream List is its exclusive focus on short screenplays. Short horror and genre films have long served as powerful calling cards for emerging writers and filmmakers, and every breakthrough begins with a great script.
“The Scream List is our answer to a challenge we’ve seen for years: how to get more talented writers in front of the right industry professionals more often,” said Alison Parker, founder of Killer Shorts. “Now, when we discover a killer script through our coverage service, we can connect that writer with industry professionals year-round.”
Industry professionals from across the horror and genre landscape have already signed on to watch The Scream List, including Bellevue Productions, Circle Management + Production, Zero Gravity Management, Alibi Entertainment, Ford Films, Grey Matter Productions, Paper Street Pictures, and horror icon Barbara Crampton (actress and producer of Jakob’s Wife and Suitable Flesh).
These aren’t just names on a list, they’re the teams behind some of the biggest short-to-feature horror success stories. Companies like Grey Matter Productions (Lights Out) and Ford Films (The Backrooms) are already proving how powerful short horror can be when it reaches the right hands. Their involvement in The Scream List signals they’re here to find the next breakout.
“Our readers know when they’ve found something special,” added Parker. “Until now, that excitement ended with a great coverage score. With The Scream List, that recognition actually leads somewhere. A Recommend or an 8 can evolve into real industry momentum.”
Key Features of The Scream List
The Scream List officially launches November 10, 2025 at screamlist.com."
