"As George investigates his roommate's increasingly disturbing nocturnal behavior, he suspects that his friend has become possessed by a dark entity.
SYNOPSIS
Longtime buddies since high school, George (Brad Pennington) and Phinneas (Clint Browning) share an apartment in Los Angeles. It’s a duplex, with their Russian landlord, Mr. Romanovsky (Leon Shparaga) living in the upstairs unit. George has returned to the apartment (atop an almost insurmountable flight of outdoor stairs) with injuries to one leg and one arm, rendering him basically immobile. His girlfriend Kim (Gena Shaw) and her friend Olivia (Larena Reyna) join the two boys on George’s first night home. After some drinking and relaxing, they bring out an Ouija board, and things quickly go south. That night, Phinneas begins to exhibit bizarre behavior, and the journey begins.
DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT
It's late at night and you're sitting in the dark in your underwear, scrolling through Netflix, hoping against hope that you can find something decent that you haven't seen yet. A documentary is too serious, a comedy too loud, and a drama will put you right to sleep. You need a scary movie, but something intriguing and artful enough to absorb you into its mystery; a dreamy escape into a recognizable world inhabited by a force you've yet to understand.
As a life-long scary movie enthusiast, I have tried with my directorial debut to simply create a film I would enjoy watching in these late night situations: An intriguing and suspenseful mystery that adheres to the principles of beauty and authenticity at every stage of production. And because I was fortunate enough to work with some amazingly talented and dedicated people, Insomnium has exceeded my creative expectations and then some.
Although Insomnium stands on its own, it is a vein in the body of a much larger story that I hope to develop over a trilogy of films entitled "The Insomnium Series".
The movies that really scare me are the ones that draw you into the story and make you empathize with the characters in such a way that you feel the terror happening to you. Unexpected loud noises and graphic violence are temporary frights but are often disruptive to the suspension of disbelief. My father let me watch The Exorcist when I was five years old and I paid attention because I cared about Regan. Afterward, I refused to go back into the family room for a week and it's that kind of lasting fear I hoped to create with Insomnium.
You're home alone at night, you've turned off the TV, you know you should go to bed, but you hesitate. Because what if when you finally doze off you discover that you're not alone.

Tamika hails from North Beach, Maryland, a tiny town inches from the Chesapeake Bay.She knew she wanted to be an actor after reciting a soliloquy by Sojourner Truth in front of her entire fifth grade class. Since then, she's appeared in over 20 film and television projects. In addition to acting, Tamika is the Indie Spotlight manager for Daily Dead, where she brings readers news on independent horror projects every weekend.
The first horror film Tamika watched was Child's Play. Being eight years old at the time, she remembers being so scared when Chucky came to life that she projectile vomited. It's tough for her to choose only one movie as her favorite horror film, so she picked two: Nosferatu and The Stepford Wives (1975).
