Dead for Filth Podcast Welcomes Caroline Williams: "Scream Queen Caroline Williams is a featured guest on the latest edition of the “Dead For Filth” podcast hosted by the extremely accomplished screenwriter/producer Michael Varrati.
Iconic Scream Queen Caroline Williams began her career in Texas, co-starring for revered cinema master Louis Malle is his Corpus Christi-based film, Alamo Bay. She worked opposite stars Ed Harris and Amy Madigan in what was her first feature film, after only six months of training at the Studio For Actors, under the tutelage of Chris Wilson. She had established herself in the Texas movie marketplace doing commercials, industrial films, and voiceover work.
Following Alamo Bay, she moved to Dallas and furthered her career, with co-stars in The Legend of Billie Jean (dir. Matthew Robbins) and Getting Even (Dir. Dwight Little).
When Tobe Hooper and L.M. “Kit” Carson began casting for the sequel to Hooper’s iconic The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, they discovered the punkass actress, who ran screaming down the hallway of the casting office. She burst into the room, pulled the chairs from beneath the duo and played the brief dialogue, while huddled in a corner. In that often told moment, she won the role from 440 actresses from both coasts.
Caroline’s career has continued to grow with guest starring appearances on TV and leads in films such as Hatchet 3 (written by Adam Green, directed by BJ McDonnell), Contracted (dir. Eric England), Halloween 2 (dir. Rob Zombie), Greenlight (writer Eric England, dir. Graham Denman), Verotika (dir. Glenn Danzig) and many other hit tv shows and movies.
Michael Varrati is a screenwriter/producer/host who has also spent considerable time writing and speaking on the relationship between the LGBTQ+ community and the horror genre. As such, for the last 7 years, he has served as the host and curator of Comic-Con International's annual "Queer Horror" panel (which has featured such guests as Christopher Rice and Chris Landon). Finding the time constraints of that annual conversation was not enough, he wanted to explore the nuances and insights of creators on an individual level, and took the concept of those in-depth conversations on the topic and transformed it into Dead for Filth, a streaming radio program that is also released as a weekly podcast to a multitude of platforms.
Over the course of the show, Michael has hosted a diverse number of guests from film, TV, and beyond, such as legendary film actress Veronica Cartwright, Jeffrey Reddick (creator of FINAL DESTINATION), Darren Stein (writer/director of JAWBREAKER), actor Thomas Dekker (HEROES, THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES), Michael Carbonaro (THE CARBONARO EFFECT), Peaches Christ, and many, many more, which has led to exciting, insightful, and important conversations. Due to the nature of the talks in each episode, the show has gathered a considerable listener-base (in the thousands weekly) and has been written about by the likes of NBC and Broadway World.
Michael Varrati, “Caroline's insight and addition to the preserved history of the show is truly wonderful. Her episode is definitely going to be of interest to fans, not only for her stories of making her iconic horror films and her interactions with the likes of Dennis Hopper, Candace Bergen, and Angela Lansbury, but her discussions of the gay community of Houston during the AIDS crisis serve as an important preservation of our history.”

Miskatonic London's Hellbound Hearts: The Dark Art of Clive Barker Event Details: "A polymath of considerable artistic importance in the horror genre, Clive Barker has been a mainstay in horror culture since the mid-1980s and has won critical and fan appreciation for his various strange and often beautiful creations, which have been curiously overlooked outside of horror circles. This class will examine his uniquely abject and original artistry, beginning with the splatterpunk delights of Books of Blood (1984-5), The Damnation Game (1985), and The Hellbound Heart (1986) through to his fusions with the dark fantastic and YA fiction in Weaveworld (1987), The Great and Secret Show (1989), and Abarat series (2002 -), among other popular titles. Barker’s own films, as a writer and director, in the 1980s and 1990s will also be examined to analyse their familiar Barkerian elements (sex, death, religion, belonging, selling one’s soul) alongside themes and motifs on monstrosity, cultural rejection, secret desires and appetites, torment and the limits of excess and power. With the aid of clips, sketches, posters, and archive material, in this lecture, we will trace and present core themes and ideas that run riot throughout his fiction and film and invite you to (re)discover Barker’s enduring legacy and unique contribution to horror culture.

Filming Begins on New Horror Movie Don't Click: "Vortex Words + Pictures is proud to announce that principal photography on their new production Don’t Click has commenced in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
Shooting is expected to be completed in May 2019 with the film being released later this year. Don’t Click is a supernatural thriller directed by Centennial College Film Graduate G-Hey Kim, with the premise being adapted from Kim’s award-winning short student film of the same name. Don’t Click is produced by Bill Marks (WolfCop, Hellmington) and executively produced by George Mihalka (Director of My Bloody Valentine), Christopher Giroux (Bite, I’ll Take Your Dead) and Courtney McAllister. The film stars Valter Skarsgård (Lords of Chaos, Fun House) in the lead role and Canadian rising stars Mark Koufos and Catherine Howard. “I’m so grateful for the opportunity to be working with such an amazing team,” says Kim.
After screening the short film, George Mihalka brought the unnerving project to Vortex and presented it to Bill Marks. Vortex picked up the rights and attached Courtney McAllister to write her first screenplay. “With George mentoring us, G-Hey and I developed a truly horrifying film that I think will resonate with audiences,” states McAllister. “This story explores both the extremity of violence that’s so easily accessible online as well as the moral grey areas we face and how we handle them,” continues Kim.
“Adding Kim and McAllister to the long list of talented creators that have started their careers at Vortex is a genuine pleasure,” beams Vortex President Bill Marks. “It’s an honour to support this unique and diverse group of young filmmakers who are bringing this terrifying film to life.”
Kim’s 2017 short film, which starred and was written, directed and produced by the Korean-born filmmaker, found great success on the festival circuit. Kim garnered a number of nominations and awards at festivals across the world including Oregon Scream Week in Portland, the Asians on Film Festival in Los Angeles and the Blood in the Snow Canadian Film Festival in Toronto. “I admire G-Hey’s raw talent and fierce determination to tell a story her way,” states Mihalka “I have full confidence that this team will make an outstanding contribution to the horror genre.”
