Sam Wineman Returns with Queer Psychological Thriller ‘HAG’ Premiering on Tubi: "Acclaimed filmmaker Sam Wineman (The Quiet Room) returns with HAG, a darkly witty and subversive obsession thriller set to premiere exclusively on Tubi on December 12, 2025. Wineman’s latest project not only redefines heteronormative horror, but also examines queerness and identity, encouraging viewers to rethink what it truly means to belong.

After a decade apart, aspiring musician Rowan’s luck seems to change when he rents his spare room to Mag, a self-proclaimed “hag” and his quirky childhood girlfriend. But as Mag’s infatuation with Rowan intensifies, their reunion spirals into a tense, life-or-death showdown. In a world where every relationship is transactional, Rowan quickly learns that keeping Mag happy isn’t just good manners, it’s a matter of survival.

Starring the American drag queen and singer-songwriter Adore Delano as Opal, Rowan’s sharp-tongued frenemy and coffee-slinging partner-in-crime at Teal Onyx Records, HAG weaves together ambition, fixation, and the price of belonging in the music industry’s underbelly.

“As a queer filmmaker, I wanted to explore what happens when the expected lead finds themselves on the margins,” says writer-director Sam Wineman. “HAG isn’t just about obsession; it’s about the discomfort of realizing you’re not the main character in someone else’s world. It’s both a twist on the genre and a meditation on belonging.”

By upending the traditional queer villain narrative, HAG offers a fresh perspective on the obsession genre. The film places its only straight character at the center of a deeply queer experience: being “othered.” And as Mag inserts herself into a vibrant community she doesn’t understand — armed with Will & Grace–style expectations — she is forced to confront her own outsider status as HAG challenges assumptions about who gets to be at the center of the story."

Catch the exclusive premiere of HAG on Tubi, December 12, 2025.

Glass Eye Pix Releases Music Video "Tender" by Animator James Siewert for the band Just Desserts: "Glass Eye Pix is pleased to present the epic stop-motion music video "Tender" directed and animated over a year by long-time Glass Eye Pix artisan James Siewert, who has worked for the New York production shingle as cinematographer, editor, visual effects artist and animator.

"Tender" is a song written by Larry Fessenden, CEO of Glass Eye Pix, who has enjoyed a collaboration with singer-songwriter Tom Laverack since 1977. Over the years the two have released four albums, singles, EPs, and played out under the name Just Desserts in clubs such as CBGBs, Pyramid Club, Mercury Lounge, Rodeo Bar, and ABC No Rio. Their brand new album is entitled CURTAINS and is available now on CD, cassette, and all your favorite streaming sites.

Siewert's cinematography work can be seen in feature films Like Me, The Ranger, and Depraved as well as over a dozen short films and music videosHe has animated music videos for Panda Bear, Lewis Del Mar, and Sonic Boom and his animation work has also been featured in campaigns for Marshall, Red Bull, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Adidas, and Champion. He is a four time Vimeo staff pick recipient and his first film The Past Inside the Present played at over 25 film festivals.

His personal work moves fluidly and seamlessly between live action and animation, as well as between narrative and experiential film. He is currently in post-production on his second film Appendectomy, an experimental drama about a young woman whose consciousness becomes untethered from her body while on hold with a collection agency.

Tom Laverack is one half of Just Desserts, a singer-songwriter, co-owner of Sojourn Records, and former social worker. Laverack has released four solo albums, he dabbles in writing prose and poetry, and is excellent at Excel.

Larry Fessenden (the other half) is an acclaimed independent film director, producer, actor, and the proprietor of the company Glass Eye Pix since 1985. He has been instrumental in producing, promoting, and launching the careers of a host of filmmakers including Ti West, Kelly Reichardt, and Jenn Wexler. Larry's films include No Telling, Habit, Wendigo, The Last Winter, Depraved and Blackout, all of which feature Laverack's music."

Says Fessenden: "I'm not much of a musician but I've cherished my collaboration with Tom these last decades as an expression more direct than the filmwork I'm able to do. The new record took a while to put together. And then it was meaningful to engage James Siewert on a tangential mission to make this animation of a song of mine; it evoked an image that had been stuck in his own craw. That's how we like to make things in our studio. I hope the video leads to interest in our album and in James Siewert's expanding oeuvre. "

The supernatural horror-comedy blends pirate mythology, ghost stories, and the eccentric island  energy that makes the Keys world-famous. Watch the Short Film THE ITCH: "A psychological sci-fi horror story about a young man who awakens in an unfamiliar apartment only to find himself under surveillance… and decaying rapidly. He relies on an enigmatic set of vaccines he discovers in the bathroom to slow his decline, but quickly plots revenge on his unseen watcher as his condition continues to deteriorate.

Equal parts character study and nightmare, The Itch uses slow-burn tension and medical imagery to chart the man's disintegration — emotionally and physically. The film explores the fears we all have of death and how far we’ll go to cheat it. Of how grief can illuminate the value of life. And how science can never succeed without the guardrails of our humanity."

Director's Statement from Gordon Phillips: "Drawing on my love for psychological horror, sci-fi, and visual storytelling, I set out to make a film that forces the audience to confront the unseen and the unknowable. In The Itch, the apartment becomes its own character — a place that traps and transforms, mirroring the protagonist’s slow collapse. My hope is that the film leaves viewers unsettled, questioning the nature of this "distorted reality and the desperate, often self-destructive lengths we’ll go to in order to escape our own suffering — mental or physical."
