They're what you'd call “bad blood” — but they don't mean to be.Jack Hill's 1967 cult film Spider Baby was too strange, too funny, too tragic, and too early for its time. Now it's been fully reimagined in prose by author Dayna Noffke — and it's here. This is the first official novelization of Spider Baby, and it doesn't just retell the story — it expands it. New scenes. More depth. The same mix of dark humor and gothic decay that made the film unforgettable, now crawling across the page.

Inside the novel:

  • A crumbling mansion and the bloodline it's trying to hide
  • A caretaker trying to hold everything together
  • Visitors who shouldn't have come
  • Sisters who don't know what they are — or what they're becoming
  • A story that still refuses to behave

Staytus Releases Lovesquish-Directed “How To Be A Serial Killer” Video: "Industrial-electronic artist Staytus has released the official music video for “How To Be A Serial Killer,” now streaming on her YouTube channel. Shot by director Lovesquish, the visceral clip concludes Staytus’ four-part Twisted Frames series, which re-imagines cult films starring Matthew Gray Gubler through dark, cinematic soundscapes.

Produced by Matt McJunkins (A Perfect Circle, Puscifer) and launched as a single on May 29, “How To Be A Serial Killer” melds distorted industrial textures with nu-metal intensity to explore repression, rage, and fractured identity. The new video mirrors those themes with claustrophobic camerawork and stark narrative flashes to capture a razor-sharp, contemporary aesthetic.

“I wanted the camera to feel like an accomplice—so close you can’t escape the tension,” Staytus said. “Lovesquish understood that instinctively, and together we built a world that is unsettling, intimate, and brutally honest. This video is the scar I always intended Twisted Frames to leave.”

Earlier installments—“68 Kill,” “Suburban Gothic,” and “King Knight”—have garnered praise from alt-music and horror outlets for their unflinching introspection and cinematic scope. With today’s release, the Twisted Frames cycle reaches its final, fiercest chapter.

The “How To Be A Serial Killer” video is available now at YouTube.com/StaytusMusic."

About Staytus

"Staytus blends industrial, electronic, and nu-metal influences into emotionally charged soundscapes that confront themes of mental health, identity, and empowerment. Collaborations with producers Matt McJunkins and Sean Beavan (Nine Inch Nails) underscore her commitment to pushing genre boundaries while maintaining raw vulnerability."
