Shudder Launches Biggest Ever Programming Event “Season of Screams” on September 1: "Shudder’s epic Season of Screams programming event returns September 1 featuring a supersized lineup of new film releases, series, specials and live watch parties on Shudder TV. The four-month celebration of fear rounds out the streamer’s 10th anniversary with the best in horror and will spotlight popular franchise films from REC to 28 Weeks Later to The Blair Witch Project, bring back an all-new Ghoul Log as well as Shudder’s popular Halloween Hotline with movie recommendations from Shudder’s Head of Programming Samuel Zimmerman.

Shudder’s Season of Screams features highly anticipated films such as the acclaimed Dangerous Animals, a new installment in the popular V/H/S franchise – V/H/S/Halloween – and the found footage breakout hits House on Eden and Hell House LLC: Lineage, as well as new seasons of The Boulet Brothers’ Dragula: Titans and The Creep Tapes, and a new Halloween special, Joe Bob’s Splatterween, featuring special guests, the legendary rock band GWAR. These new films and series join Shudder’s extensive library, including the original 1935 classic The Bride of Frankenstein (celebrating its 90th anniversary), beloved Hitchcock collection of films The Birds, Rear Window, Vertigo and Psycho (celebrating its 65th anniversary), as well as popular TV series Bitten and Hemlock Grove.

Season of Screams Highlights include:

  • The Andujar Twins, the production design team behind Shudder’s Birth/Rebirth and the recent I Know What You Did Last Summer, resurrected everyone’s favorite jack-o-lantern with Revenge of the Ghoul Log. The new hour-long video of the chilling, candlelit pumpkin sets the scene for horror fans beginning October 1. Behind-the-scenes photos of this year’s Ghoul Log were released today.

BEYOND FEST TO HOST SPECIAL SCREENING OF LIONSGATE’S “THE LONG WALK” DIRECTED BY FRANCIS LAWRENCE SEPTEMBER 8 AT THE EGYPTIAN THEATRE: "In anticipation of the September 12 nationwide release of Lionsgate’s The Long Walk, directed by Francis Lawrence, Beyond Fest, the biggest and most highly attended genre film festival in the U.S., in partnership with the American Cinematheque will host a special screening of the film on Monday, September 8, at the Egyptian Theatre in Los Angeles.

The Long Walk’s cast and filmmakers are expected to attend the 8pm screening with a Q&A following moderated by Beyond Fest’s Christian Parkes.

“We’re thrilled to welcome the stars of The Long Walk to Beyond Fest,” said head of programming Evrim Ersoy. “Francis Lawrence has made an extraordinary and faithful adaptation of the first book Stephen King ever wrote, and the result is a powerful and visceral film that’s still living in my head. NEON LOCKS IN WORLDWIDE RIGHTS TO ADAM SCOTT-STARRER HOKUM; CWEATURE FEATURES JOINS CO-PRODUCTION WITH IMAGE NATION, SPOOKY PICTURES: "Award-winning studio NEON and Waypoint Entertainment’s  Cweature Features have come on board writer and director Damian McCarthy's (Oddity) film Hokum, starring Adam Scott (“Severance”). NEON will release the film theatrically in the US in 2026.  NEON International will represent the foreign sales rights and introduce the film next week at TIFF. Cweature Features board as co-producers on the project joining Image Nation and Spooky Pictures, as well as Team Thrives, who co-financed the project. The film is currently in post production.

Peter Coonan ("Bad Sisters") and David Wilmot ("Bodkin") join Scott along with Florence Ordesh, Will O'Connell, and Michael Patric. Siox C, Brendan Conroy, Austin Amelio, and Ezra Carlisle round out the cast.

When reclusive novelist Ohm Bauman (Scott) retreats to a remote Irish inn to scatter his parents’ ashes, the staff’s tales of an ancient witch haunting the honeymoon suite take hold of his mind. Soon, disturbing visions and a shocking disappearance draw him into a nightmarish confrontation with the darkest corners of his past. okum follows McCarthy's feature debut Oddity, which premiered at SXSW and won the Audience Award in the Midnighter Section. The film is produced by Spooky Pictures founders Roy Lee and Steven Schneider, Image Nation’s Derek Dauchy and Tailored Film’s Ruth Treacy, Julianne Forde and Mairtín de Barra. As previously announced, Hokum is the latest collaboration between Image Nation and Spooky Pictures following Charlie Polinger’s lauded feature The Plague which debuted in Cannes, last year’s hit Late Night With the Devil and the critically acclaimed thriller Watcher, directed by Chloe Okuno and starring Maika Monroe. The project is the sixth in the current Image Nation/Spooky Pictures slate following the announcement of Bryan Edward Hills’ Archangel starring Connor Leslie and Randall Okita’s Menace starring Isabel May, which was acquired by IFC/Shudder at Cannes last year.

Tailored Films, the Irish banner that co-produced Ali Abbasi’s Cannes-bowing and Oscar-nominated The Apprentice and Mubi’s Bring Them Down starring Barry Keoghan, is also on board.

LOLA TUNG AND NICO PARKER TO STAR IN OSGOOD PERKINS’ THE YOUNG PEOPLE, FIRST PROJECT UNDER FIRST-LOOK DEAL WITH NEON: "Award-winning studio NEON announced today the first project under their first-look deal with filmmaker Osgood Perkins, who will direct The Young People. Based on Perkins’ script, the film will star Lola Tung (“The Summer I Turned Pretty”) and Nico Parker (How To Train Your Dragon, “The Last of Us”). NEON is co-financing the film with Lyrical Media. NEON will release the film theatrically in the U.S. and represent the international sales rights to the film, introducing it to buyers in TIFF next week.

Perkins is producing with his partner Chris Ferguson for Phobos and Brian Kavanough-Jones for Range. While plot details are currently underwraps, production is set to begin this fall in Vancouver.

The Young People is the first project under the first-look deal between NEON, Perkins, and his production banner Phobos, which was inked in May. NEON and Perkins first partnered together in 2024 on Longlegs which was the highest grossing independent film of the year at $75 million domestically, closely followed by The Monkey which marked NEON’s second biggest opening weekend at the box office. The two are also partnering on Perkins' next film, Keeper, which NEON will release on November 14.

Lola Tung is quickly making a name for herself as the lead in Season 3 of Prime Video’s “The Summer I Turned Pretty.” She recently wrapped production on the upcoming horror feature Forbidden Fruits, directed by Meredith Alloway, which is slated for theatrical release in 2026. On stage, she made her Broadway debut in Hadestown as Eurydice in a limited engagement in February 2024.

Nico Parker most recently starred in Universal’s How To Train Your Dragon live-action remake as well as in Maude Apatow’s directorial debut, Poetic License, which is premiering at TIFF next week. Other credits include Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, Laura Chinn’s Suncoast, for which she won a U.S. Dramatic Special Jury Award, and the HBO series “The Last Of Us,” for which she was nominated for a 2024 BAFTA Television Award.
