Everyone has their own favorite horror monster, stalker or slasher, but be prepared to see them as you've never seen them before. Illustrator and artist, Matt Andrews, has reproduced images of horror icons using cosmetics such as shaving cream and nail varnish.

Andrews studied as an illustration major at Winthrop University in South Carolina, however he says he has been drawing comic and cartoon illustrations since childhood. On his website mandraws.com, Andrews describes his progression from paper illustrations to digital art which ultimately resulted in a university project he has called Cosmonstrography. We've included some of our favorites below.

The project was part of a visual illustration class and required Andrews to design art pieces and a typeface for his titles. On Reddit, Andrews discusses the origins of his project in more detail:

"The project was called "Beauty Shock." We had to take something beautiful, or in my case beautifying, and make it shocking. I originally was going to just use one medium, shaving cream. It's one of those things that is so fun to play with and sculpt, but let it stand a few minutes and it loses its structure. There's something so nice about a medium that forces you to work fast and be done quickly... In the end though, my professor suggested I branch out with other cosmetics, and then I just picked movie monsters because they are so iconic and recognizable that it would be very feasible to represent them using any medium."

All 13 monsters can been seen on Imgur and if you really enjoy them they are available his book Cosmonstrography which is available here for $16.00. Andrews also designs concept art, posters and illustrations for books and magazines that can be found on his website. *This story was submitted by Jemma George
