Roland Emmerich's new Stargate movie, a remake of his own 1994 film of the same name, has set its sights on a pair of writers. Meanwhile, Oculus director Mike Flanagan's upcoming film Somnia now has a release date, and Vampirella fans have a new comic book to look forward to, including a cover drawn exclusively for Box of Dread subscribers.
Stargate Reboot: According to The Hollywood Reporter, Nicolas Wright and James A. Woods are set to scribe Roland Emmerich's upcoming Stargate reboot, the first in a projected trilogy that Emmerich will direct with Dean Devlin producing the projects. Wright and Woods both penned the screenplay for Emmerich's Independence Day 2, scheduled for a June 24th, 2016 release.
Featuring a wormhole that takes an assembled team to a distant world, the original Stargate starred Kurt Russell and James Spader and spawned a number of television series, including Stargate SG-1, Stargate: Atlantis, and SGU Stargate Universe.
Somnia Release Date: According to Box Office Mojo, Relativity has slated Mike Flanagan's Somnia for a May 8th, 2015 release. Directed by Flanagan off a screenplay he co-wrote with Jeff Howard, the film is “about a couple (Kate Bosworth and Thomas Jane) who discover their young foster child’s dreams manifests in the real world when he sleeps.”
In addition to Bosworth and Jane, Annabeth Gish, Jacob Tremblay and Dash Mihok also star in the supernatural horror film.
Vampirella #1 Variant: Box of Dread subscribers who are also fans of Vampirella will find quite the treat when their February delivery comes in, as Roberto Castro has illustrated a special cover for Dynamite's Legenderry: Vampirella #1 that will only be available to Box of Dread subscribers:
