The Death Dealer is coming back to the big screen. It's been confirmed that Kate Beckinsale will once again play Selene in the fifth Underworld film, which has a director attached and another familiar face from the franchise lined up to return, as well.

According to THR, Beckinsale has officially signed on to play Selene in the Underworld sequel, confirming what writer/director Len Wiseman (2003's Underworld, 2006's Underworld: Evolution) teased at New York Comic Con in October, when he revealed that an Underworld sequel starring Beckisale's Selene was in development.

Currently known as Underworld 5, the next entry to the series that started in 2003 will be directed by Anna Foerster (Starz's Outlander, Criminal Minds) from a screenplay by Cory Goodman (Priest, The Last Witch Hunter). In addition to her experience behind the camera on TV shows, Foerster has worked in the visual effects department on films such as Independence Day and Pitch Black, and she's also attached to direct Source Code 2.

Lined up to reprise his role as the vampire David from Underworld: Awakening is Theo James (Divergent). James was once believed to be starring in an Underworld spinoff film called Underworld: Next Generation, though it now looks like that film and this movie are one and the same. There's no word yet on whether or not Scott Speedman will come back to play Michael.

Underworld 5 comes from Lakeshore Entertainment and Screen Gems and is slated to begin filming in Prague this October. Though plot details are being kept under wraps, the film is expected to follow "a new and younger generation of vampires and werewolves who are locked in a seemingly never-ending battle between supernatural races."
