Books are considered dangerous weapons of knowledge in the world of Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451, and the classic novel's unsettling future is brought to life in the official trailer for HBO's adaptation of the same name.

Directed by Ramin Bahrani (99 Homes), Fahrenheit 451 stars Michael B. Jordan (Creed, Chronicle), Sofia Boutella (2017's The Mummy), and Michael Shannon (Nocturnal Animals, Bug). In addition to starring in the movie, Jordan is also one of the executive producers of the film, which has the following synopsis (via Collider):

"Fahrenheit 451 is based on Ray Bradbury’s classic novel. In a future where the media is an opiate, history is rewritten and “firemen” burn books, Jordan plays Guy Montag, a young fireman who struggles with his role as law enforcer and with his “mentor”, played by Shannon."

As essential to read now as it was when it was originally published in 1953, Fahrenheit 451 is Bradbury at his most thought-provoking, and it should be interesting to see his timeless story come to life on screen once again (it was previously adapted in a 1966 film of the same name). The film adaptation of Fahrenheit 451 will premiere exclusively on HBO on Saturday, May 19th. Will you be tuning in?
