We are sad to report that Leslie Nielsen has passed today of complications from pneumonia. With an acting career spanning over 50 years, Leslie Nielsen is probably best known for his comedy work in Airplane! and the Naked Gun series.

Horror fans may remember him from Prom Night or episodes of Thriller and Alfred Hitchcock Presents, but when I hear Leslie Nielsen, I immediately think of his work in Forbidden Planet and CreepshowForbidden Planet is a sci-fi classic that focuses on the human experience as much as the technology and special effects. Released in 1956, its success propelled Leslie Nielsen's film career and was an inspiration for many future sci-fi releases. Creepshow is one of my favorite horror films, and features Leslie Nielsen in the Something to Tide You Over segment with Ted Danson.

If you are familiar with Leslie Nielsen's comedy movies, but haven't seen Forbidden Planet or Creepshow, definitely give them a try. It will show you a different side to a very talented actor who will be missed.
