The Hannibal TV series is currently filming and NBC just released a new piece of key art featuring the new Hannibal Lecter, Mad Mikkelsen. The TV series is being developed by Bryan Fuller and takes place before the events of Silence of the Lambs, following Lecter and FBI Agent Will Graham:

“Will Graham is a gifted criminal profiler who is on the hunt for a serial killer with the FBI. Graham’s unique way of thinking gives him the astonishing ability to empathize with anyone – even psychopaths. He seems to know what makes them tick. But when the mind of the twisted killer he’s pursuing is too complicated for even Will to comprehend, he enlists the help of Dr. Lecter, one of the premier psychiatric minds in the country. Armed with the uncanny expertise of the brilliant doctor, Will and Hannibal (known as a serial killer only to the audience) form a brilliant partnership and it seems there’s no villain they can’t catch. If Will only knew…”

Hannibal stars Casino Royale‘s Mad Mikkelsen as the infamous cannibal, along with Hugh Dancy as Agent Will Graham. Laurence Fishburne is playing Agent Jack Crawford, who is in charge of the Behavioral Science Unit of the FBI and will eventually be responsible for tracking down Hannibal Lecter. Other actors who will be appearing on the show include Eddie Izzard, Gillian Anderson, Gina Torres, Lance Henriksen, Molly Shannon, Ellen Greene and Chelan Simmons.

NBC skipped the usual pilot process and already placed a first season order for the series. There is no premiere date yet, but we'll let readers know as soon as it is announced. If you’d like to see the first photos from Hannibal, visit our recent coverage at: http://dailydead.com/first-photos-from-hannibal-tv-series/
