A young boy named Jason Voorhees splashes frantically before dropping below the surface of Crystal Lake. A child murderer is burned alive in a boiler room by vengeful parents. Some of them innocent, others inherently evil, every horror icon has an origin story, and in his new collection of online illustrations, artist Jérémy Pailler looks into the haunted pasts of an eclectic group of vicious villains.

Titled the "Horror Genesis Collection", Jérémy Pailler's illustrations are currently not available to purchase, but their intricate details and thoughtful looks into some of horror's darkest characters can be viewed below (images via Jérémy Pailler.com).

About the Author - Derek Anderson

Raised on a steady diet of R.L. Stine’s Goosebumps books and Are You Afraid of the Dark?, Derek has been fascinated with fear since he first saw ForeverWare being used on an episode of Eerie, Indiana.

When he’s not writing about horror as the Senior News Reporter for Daily Dead, Derek can be found daydreaming about the Santa Carla Boardwalk from The Lost Boys or reading Stephen King and Brian Keene novels.
