**Updated 12/31: Piranha 3DD screenwriter Patrick Melton left us a note regarding the US release: "No release before U.S. theatrical this spring. In 3DD!!!" **

Original Story: Piranha 3DD was originally slated to open in the US this past November, but its release had been delayed. We were still expecting a new theatrical release date, but it appears that the UK theatrical run has been pulled and Piranha 3DD is going direct-to-video. Will a US release follow the same path?

The official British Video Association website lists a Piranha 3DD theatrical release as being "Pulled From Schedule", but notes a Blu-ray and DVD release on March 19, 2012. We'll have more information the film's US release as soon as it becomes available. Here is the synopsis and cast/crew list from the BVA website:

Starring: Christopher Lloyd, Ving Rhames, Katrina Bowden, Danielle Panabaker, Gary Busey, Chris Zylka, Chelan Simmons, David Koechner, David Hasselhoff, Jean-Luc Bilodeau
Director: John Gulager
Music: Elia Cmiral
Producer: Mark Canton, Joel Soisson, Marc Toberoff
Writer: Marcus Dunstan, Patrick Melton

Horror sequel in which a species of violent prehistoric piranha continue to terrify a small town. The chaos unleashed in 'Piranha' (2010) by a group of the omnivorous fish, set free by an earthquake that split the floor of a lake, may only have been the beginning. The tests of marine biologist Carl Goodman (Christopher Lloyd) indicate that these fish were only adolescents, suggesting their parents would be even fiercer adversaries. When the piranha make their way into the town's plumbing system, the terror spreads. Soon swimming pools and even the town's brand new waterpark are infested by the bloodthirsty critters. Can the town's residents, marshalled by survivor of the first movie Deputy Fallon (Ving Rhames), find a way to combat their sharp-teethed tormentors?
