As a special quarantine treat back in April, we shared the full issue of Mike Mignola and Chris Roberson's Hellboy and the B.P.R.D.: 1953 - Beyond the Fences #1 with Daily Dead readers, and today we're thrilled to share another classic Dark Horse Comics title: Cullen Bunn and artist Tyler Crook's Harrow County #1.

Through 32 issues in its initial publication run from 2015–2018 via Dark Horse Comics, writer Cullen Bunn and artist Tyler Crook took readers into the chilling and eerily endearing community of Harrow County. Looking back at the successful series, Bunn and Crook have nothing but fond reflections:

Cullen Bunn: "I imagine Harrow County will always be one of the books that I point people to as a work the most accurately represents me as a writer. I’m not humble about that one. I’m proud of the series from start to finish. Tyler and I knew where we were going with the series from the very beginning, and we were lucky enough to be able to tell the tale the way we wanted to. That’s no mean feat with creator-owned comics!"

Tyler Crook: "I'm incredibly proud of our work on Harrow County. I've said it a million times, but with this project, Cullen and I were totally simpatico. Our visions of what the story would be and how it would be told came together in a way that felt natural and honest. In fact, when we started I was worried that it was the sort of thing that only Cullen and I would enjoy. But it did really well and seemed to resonate with a lot of people. I've forgotten how many languages it's been translated into; maybe 9 or 10. I'm very proud of Harrow County and I miss working on it every day."

Whether you're revisiting Harrow County or stepping into its creepy confines for the first time, you can experience how it all began by reading the first issue of Harrow County in its entirety below, and visit Dark Horse Comics' website for more information on Harrow County!

Harrow County #1: "This town will make your skin crawl!

Emmy always knew that the deep, dark woods surrounding her home crawled with ghosts, goblins, and zombies. But on the eve of her eighteenth birthday, she learns that she is connected to these creatures—and to the land itself—in a way she never imagined.

Don’t miss the first issue of this southern gothic fairy tale from the creator of smash hit The Sixth Gun, beautifully and hauntingly realized by B.P.R.D.’s Tyler Crook!
