Distiller: Press Release: "Port Jefferson Station, NY - WHAT: Indie film DISTILLER is being released on VOD services
WHERE: Available to Pre-order on iTunes
WHEN: Pre-order today, release date Friday January 8th, 2016
H.A.M. Studios is thrilled to announce the upcoming release of DISTILLER on Video-On-Demand Services. The film is available to Pre-order on iTunes.
The film stars Dan Noonan and Amy Ciupek as the heirs to their long-lost Uncle’s estate. The Uncle, a globe-trotting ghost hunter known as a Distiller, spent his life trapping spirits of the dead in liquor bottles until his mysterious disappearance. Now 20 years later the duo inherit his belongings, including the collection of enigmatic bottles which they plan to open and serve at a Fourth of July party, causing ghost and creature mayhem to ensue.
All of the film’s creature effects were accomplished through “old school” practical effects methods by the husband and wife filmmaking team of Andy and Erin Schroeder. DISTILLER is unrated but aims for a PG-13 audience. “We wanted to make a movie that would scare adults, but also be appropriate if younger viewers were around”, says Erin (DISTILLER’s producer and creature effects artist). “As adults we’re still able to appreciate many of the movies we grew up watching, like ‘Ghostbusters’, ‘Gremlins’ or ‘Indiana Jones’. Most modern ghost stories are either too disturbing for younger viewers or too goofy for adults. Finding that middle ground was one of our goals in making ‘DISTILLER’.
Andy (the film’s director) is also the artist of a weekly comic strip based on DISTILLER which follows “Uncle Matt”, the film’s resident Distiller, on his supernatural misadventures.
DISTILLER’s world premiere theatrical screening will be projected on the largest movie screen in the North Eastern United States at the historic Proctors Theater in Schenectady, NY on January 2nd, 2016.
