Earlier today, we reported on some Carrie remake items mentioned by MGM CEO Roger Birnbaum at a recent University appearance. The original source at Reddit also said it was revealed that Sam Raimi would direct a remake of Poltergeist. While he won't be directing, Raimi is involved in the project and new details have surfaced.

According to THR, Sam Raimi is on board as a producer and is said to be helping search for a director. This sounds similar to what he did with The Evil Dead remake, which Fede Alvarez is currently directing. It is also being reported that David Lindsay-Abaire is currently writing the script and previously worked with Sam Raimi on Oz: The Great and Powerful.

The original Poltergeist was released almost 30 years ago on June 4, 1982. The film was produced by Steven Spielberg and directed by Tobe Hooper.
