Shawn Levy, director of Night at the Museum, Date Night, and the upcoming Real Steel, may be tackling a classic horror monster for his next project. While he was looking at directing a 3D remake of Fantastic Voyage, delays and casting issues are pushing Levy to look at other projects.

According to reports, Fox (who is also developing Fantastic Voyage) is still looking to work with Levy and want him to take on a new version of Frankenstein. Based on a Max Landis script, the film is expected to put a new twist on the Frankenstein story, as opposed to directly following the book.

Deadline notes that Fox wants to move quickly on this project, so that they can release it before one of the numerous other Frankenstein projects in production, including Wake the Dead, I, Frankenstein, Frankenstein's Army, and This Dark Endeavor. If Fox wants to start on this film as soon as possible, we should have a director confirmed in the very near future.
