Given the person who mentioned this, we can consider this more credible than your average rumor. At this weekend's C2E2 convention in Chicago, a number of stars from The Walking Dead participated in a Q&A panel and Laurie Holden mentioned that Stephen King is currently in talks to write an episode for the second season.

Since Frank Darabont directed King's Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, and The Mist, this sound like a definite possibility, and I think both fans of Stephen King and The Walking Dead will be happy to see him write an episode. For more season 2 information revealed during the panel, check out the source link below.

It is no surprise that other TV stations are looking to capatilize on the success of The Walking Dead and the first to give it a try is the CW, with Awakening. The show is based around "...two sisters who come of age and face off against one another amidst the beginning of a zombie uprising...  It centers on the older sister, Jenna (Griffiths), an attorney in the New York City's public defender's office who, like her sister, is a zombie."

It has recently been revealed that Lucy Griffiths (pictured above) has been cast as the older sister in the show, with the show pilot shooting this month. For those confused about how the show can feature zombies as main characters, it has been reported that the show will have zombies leading regular lives along with the living (and of course something will go horribly wrong...).

Robert Kirkman, the creator of The Walking Dead comic series, got a chance to talk with Entertainment Weekly about season two of the TV show. Kirkman goes on to talk about writing episodes for the show, Comic-Con, and also mentions some of the settings we'll see in the new season :

"I don’t know if I can go into that, but I know [showrunner Frank Darabont] has said we’re going to see Hershel’s farm. We’re looking to take some picturesque rural landscapes and playing with that and coming up with some cool zombie visuals. We’ll see some of the locations of the first season, but we’re going to mainly focus on breaking new ground."

The first season of The Walking Dead will arrive in stores next week and we already have our hands on a copy for review. You'll be able to find out our thoughts on the DVD/Blu-ray early next week. To read the entire interview, click on the source link below.

Late last year, there was a switch up with the writing staff for the second season of The Walking Dead. While it still isn't unclear whether they were fired or just moved onto new projects (different sources reported different sides of the story), it was noted that Frank Darabont was considering hiring freelance writers instead of a full writing staff to work on each episode.

That has turned out not to be the case, as Glen Mazzara has been hired as a writing executive producer and is putting together a new staff or writers for the second season. Glen Mazzara is probably best known for his writing on The Shield and also the episode Wildfire for The Walking Dead's first season.

In my review of season one, I mentioned that while I really enjoyed the show, I felt that it was more of a teaser than a complete season. I really hope they focus on character building and it looks like the hiring of Glen Mazzara is a good step in the right direction.

Like many zombie fans watching The Walking Dead, my friends, family, and I are all ready for the inevitable zombie apocalypse. We know how we'd protect ourselves, ward off incoming zombie attacks, and hold up for the long haul. Unfortunately, the main characters of The Walking Dead are not as prepared and that will be the deciding factor on how much you like this show.

We have a number of news items that popped up over the last few days related to The Walking Dead:

-Earlier this week, rumors were swirling around blogs and news sites that the writing staff of The Walking Dead had been let go. We didn't run the story, because it seemed a bit drastic given the ratings success of the show. Why ruin a good thing? It turns out that this rumor was only partially correct.  Executive producer Gale Ann Hurd has commented that the story was inaccurate and that only Charles Eglee is in the process of moving onto another project.

-While we are still waiting for official word on the DVD release for season 1, Amazon.com has listed a release for March 8th.

-This Sunday will be the last episode of the season. If you haven't seen any of The Walking Dead or need to catch up, AMC will be running a marathon, showing all 6 episodes in a row. Check your local listings for showtimes.

Ever wanted to play an SNES version of Left 4 Dead? Do your nightmares involve pixelated zombies eating your brains? Unfortunately, there isn't an actual game (yet..), but someone at Pixel Joint spent the time to create amazing zombie invasion pixel art as a tribute to The Walking Dead.

I could definitely see myself playing an actual game in this style, so hopefully someone reading this gets started on one ASAP. Thanks, kotaku.
