Telltale Games has announced that the first episode of The Walking Dead video game had some impressive sales numbers during its first two weeks of release. They also confirmed that we won't be seeing the release of episode 2 this month.

The Walking Dead video game is now available on the PC, Mac, PlayStation Network, and Xbox Live, and Telltale Games revealed that the first episode sold over 1 million copies during the first two weeks of release:

"Much like a herd of walkers, The Walking Dead, our game based on Robert Kirkman's award-winning comic book series of the same name, powers on! In just two weeks, the game has sold a million episodes and received critical acclaim from the press!

The Walking Dead has topped the charts on XBox Live and Steam, and just a few days ago was named the number four selling game on PlayStation Network in April (with less than a week in the wild that month)!"

We know that gamers were hoping for an episode 2 release in May, but Telltale has confirmed that it will be released sometime in June: "Fans and critics alike have been enjoying (is that the right word?) making the difficult and sometimes gut-wrenching decisions Episode 1 has called for, and you can expect to be doing more of that in Episode 2 - coming in June."

With the console certification process and bug fixing needed on the PC version of episode 1, we thought a May release for episode 2 was looking unlikely. Expect the PC/Mac version to be released first once again, followed by the PSN and Xbox LIVE versions. Here are all of the episode titles for the first season, along with some tentative release dates:

  • Episode 1: “A New Day”
  • Episode 2: “Starved For Help” (June)
  • Episode 3: “Long Road Ahead” (Due out in late summer)
  • Episode 4: “Around Every Corner”
  • Episode 5: “No Time Left” (Due out later this year)
