We have news on two actors that have joined the cast of True Blood Season 5 as members of the vampire Authority.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jacob Hopkins is playing a member of the vampire Authority named Alexander Drew. He is described as "one of the Authority's chancellors who was turned to darkness at the age of 9-years-old. Alexander is described as an impetuous vamp who likes to taunt those around him."

Spartacus' Peter Mensah has also joined the cast in a recurring role as Kibwe, Chancellor for the Authority.

Chris Meloni (Law & Order: SVU, Oz) was cast back in December and is said to be playing “an ancient, powerful vampire who holds the fate of Bill and Eric in his hands." It has been rumored that he is part of the Authority as well, but that has not yet been confirmed.

It was announced back in August that True Blood had been renewed for a 12-episode fifth season. Production of new episodes began early this year and the show will return this summer. While plot details are slim at the moment, here is some previously released information:

  • “There will be a very significant, strong, mysterious woman at the center of one of our main stories next year… That will be a very familiar and compelling character. It may be someone you’ve heard of before.”
  • “Season 5 will explore more fairies, new fairies, fairies in a way you haven’t really seen fairies. We will all, as well as Sookie, come to understand fairies more than in previous seasons.”
  • “Russell is not dead… It’s safe to assume the king of Mississippi is not gone for good.”
  • “While there will always be romance in Sookie’s life, Sookie at the moment is choosing herself over all of them,”
