Back in 2018, Dana Gould (along with artist Chad Lewis), adapted Rod Serling's original script for Planet of the Apes (itself an adaptation of Pierre Boulle's novel of the same name) as a graphic novel for BOOM! Studios, so it's especially fitting that Gould is now playing his own version of Dr. Zaius as the host of his own ’70s talk show in the second season of Hanging with Doctor Z!

To celebrate the launch of the second season (which will also feature special guests "Weird Al" Yankovic, Maria Bamford, Dave Foley, Hank Azaria, David Koechner, Ron Funches, Jeff Garlin, Penn Jillette, Bobcat Goldthwait, Hannah Einbinder, and Gary Anthony Williams), Daily Dead caught up with Dana in a new video interview to discuss the origins of Hanging with Doctor Z, and he also talked about his beloved horror comedy series Stan Against Evil, his iconic voice acting as the video game gecko Gex, his enigmatic role in the classic King of Queens episode "Supermarket Story," and the joys of writing about horror and sci-fi movies on The Cinemorph!

Comedian, writer and actor Dana Gould (The Simpsons, Stan Against Evil, Joy Ride) launches season 2 of his original series “Hanging with Doctor Z” on Monday, February 14 on YouTube. Set in a golden age of talk shows, "Hanging with Doctor Z" features eccentric 1970s era talk show host Doctor Z (played by Dana) interviewing current celebrity guests as themselves. It is Space Ghost: Coast to Coast meets Between Two Ferns.
