Easily one of the more visceral cinematic experiences I’ve had this year, Jeremy Saulnier’s Green Room is arriving in theaters this weekend courtesy of A24. To get Daily Dead readers ready for the brutal mayhem awaiting you, we had the chance to sit down and chat with Saulnier as well as one of the film’s co-stars, Anton Yelchin. The duo chatted about their experiences collaborating together on Green Room, keeping the story entrenched in an air of authenticity, and much more.

Green Room follows a punk band known as the Ain’t Rights, who show up to play a gig in rural Portland and get much more than they bargained for when they witness a murder. Unfortunately, a group of skinheads, led by the chillingly enigmatic Darcy (Patrick Stewart), run the club and aren’t going to let the aspiring musicians leave knowing what they were witness to. A harrowing standoff follows and, soon, it’s a fight to the death between the two groups, neither willing to waiver, and all willing to do whatever it takes to survive against each other.

Green Room also stars Imogen Poots, Alia Shawkat, Mark Webber, Callum Turner and Macon Blair (who had also co-starred in Saulnier’s previous directorial efforts, Blue Ruin and Murder Party).

Check out the highlights from our video interview for Green Room below, and look for the film in Los Angeles and New York beginning on April 15th, with the film expanding to other cities beginning on April 29th.
