You leapt from rooftops, sprinted down streets, and swung at zombies' heads with him, but gamers still don't know everything about Kyle Crane, the protagonist from Techland's Dying Light. Thankfully, his story is further explored in the upcoming expansion Dying Light: The Following, which is teased in a new trailer.
The trailer reveals a more open environment outside the zombie-choked alleyways of Harran, the setting of the original game. It looks like a fenced-off human settlement could be the main headquarters and perhaps Kyle Crane is a key part of that community. Also, gamers will get to kill zombies while riding in a dune buggy this time around—something that should be on the bucket list of any zombie slayer.
A release date hasn't been revealed for this Dying Light expansion (which will be free for season pass holders) yet, but we'll definitely let readers know when one is announced.
"Dying Light: The Following is a massive expansion to Dying Light and the untold chapter of Kyle Crane’s story. Take to a vast new area that will transform your Dying Light experience through new game mechanics, environments and challenges on top of the established core of what made the game a break away success for millions of players around the globe.
About the game:
Dying Light is an action survival game presented in the first-person perspective. The game is set in a vast and dangerous open world. During the day, you roam an urban environment devastated by a mysterious epidemic, scavenging for supplies and crafting weapons to help you defeat the hordes of mindless, flesh-hungry enemies the plague has created. At night, hunter becomes prey as the infected grow in strength and aggression - but even more lethal are the nocturnal, inhuman predators that leave their hives to feed. You will need to make use of all your skills and any available means to survive till dawn."
In case you missed it, we have Techland's previous press release with full details below.
Press Release (via Evil Avatar): "July 29th, 2015 – Wroclaw, Poland/ In last week’s "Half a Year with Dying Light" video, Techland teased drivable all-terrain dirt buggies for Dying Light. Today Techland has confirmed that it is indeed working on Dying Light: The Following – a feature-heavy, story-based expansion pack.
“For Dying Light: The Following we’re adding a number of bold game-changers to create one massive expansion. Something big that will give the game a brand-new flavor. The new map alone is the same size as all the previous maps from Dying Light combined, so there is a lot we’re packing in here.
We also kept a close eye on player feedback to help tailor what we’ve created here. Hopefully people will see that this new expansion is first and foremost, for the fans.”
– Tymon Smektala, producer, Dying Light: The FollowingTechland announced that Dying Light: The Following will be available for purchase separately but will also be made free to all Season Pass holders. The expansion pack is set to be showcased behind closed doors at Gamescom next month, with a full public reveal following shortly after."
