"You can't stop what's coming. Death always wins." Ahead of its release this summer, The Dark Tower (based on the epic fantasy book series by Stephen King) is teased in its first full-length trailer.

Directed by Nikolaj Arcel, The Dark Tower stars Idris Elba, Matthew McConaughey, Tom Taylor, Claudia Kim, Franz Kranz, Abbey Lee, and Jackie Earle Haley. Sony has scheduled the film for an August 4th theatrical release.

You can view the official trailer and stills below, as well as two screenshots from the trailer (taken by Daily Dead contributor Jason Alvino) that feature references to Stephen King's IT and The Shining. A rundown Pennywise attraction is shown in what appears to be the decimated Mid-World, while a photo of the Overlook Hotel sits atop the table in a therapist's office in Jake Chambers' world (aka our own world).

"There are other worlds than these. Stephen King’s The Dark Tower, the ambitious and expansive story from one of the world’s most celebrated authors, makes its launch to the big screen. The last Gunslinger, Roland Deschain (Idris Elba), has been locked in an eternal battle with Walter O’Dim, also known as the Man in Black (Matthew McConaughey), determined to prevent him from toppling the Dark Tower, which holds the universe together. With the fate of the worlds at stake, good and evil will collide in the ultimate battle as only Roland can defend the Tower from the Man in Black."
