After holding off the competition for the past few weeks it was Bad Grandpa that bumped Gravity off the top spot at the US box office. The Jackass spinoff carried a production budget of only $15 million and earned an estimated $32 million this weekend.  Gravity held onto second place, adding another $20 million to its total. The movie is just shy of the $200 mark, having earned $199.8 in the US since opening.

There isn't anything else too exciting to report about in the top ten, with the exception of 12 Years a Slave. The movie managed to earn $2.1 million and take eighth place on only 123 screens. This is a movie that will continue to gain momentum and increase its screen count over the coming months as it should be a major Oscar contender. Looking at horror at the box office, Carrie is the last major horror theatrical release for the year and it had a pretty weak second weekend, earning only $5.6 million and taking sixth place. To date, the movie has made $26 million in the US.

Next weekend sees the release of Ender's Game, Free Birds, and Last Vegas. Here are the top ten results for this weekend:

1. Bad Grandpa - $32,000,000
2. Gravity - $20,300,000
3. Captain Phillips - $11,800,000
4. The Counselor - $8,000,000
5. Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 - $6,100,000
