Weekend Box Office Update

It was a close race between 22 Jump Street and Think Like a Man Too at the box office, but Think Like a Man Too was able to take the lead by the time the weekend estimates came in. With a $30 million opening, Think Like a Man Too is off to a good start, especially with a budget of only $24 million. Sony isn't complaining about 22 Jump Street taking second place, though. The movie already crossed the $100 million mark and only cost $50 million to produce.

How to Train Your Dragon 2 took third place and is nearing the $100 million mark, while Jersey Boys failed to attract moviegoers and only placed fourth in its opening weekend. Everything else in the top ten is looking pretty good, with the exception of Edge of Tomorrow, which had great critic and audience reactions, but wasn't able to perform exceptionally well in the US. However, the movie has picked up $218 million internationally, so it can hardly be considered a failure.

Next week sees the release of Transformers: Age of Extinction, which is sure to dominate ticket sales and take first place. Here's a look at this weekend's top ten:

1. Think Like a Man Too - $30,000,000
2. 22 Jump Street - $29,000,000
3. How to Train Your Dragon 2 - $25,300,000
4. Jersey Boys - $13,515,000
5. Maleficent - $13,012,000
6. Edge of Tomorrow - $10,340,000
7. The Fault in Our Stars - $8,600,000
8. X-Men: Days of Future Past - $6,200,000
9. Chef - $1,845,000
10. Godzilla - $1,820,000
