Weekend Box Office Update

2011/12/05 00:11:49 +00:00 | Jonathan James

There were no new wide releases this weekend, so the box office results contain the same 10 films. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 held onto the top spot for the third week in a row and has earned a total of $247 million.

The Muppets took second place, bringing it's domestic total to $56, but Disney was probably expecting better for such a well known property opening around Thanksgiving. Martin Scorsese's Hugo expanded from a limited release last week to a wider release this week and moved up to third place.

Next week's big releases include The Sitter, New Year's Eve, and Tinker, Tailor, Solider, Spy. Here are the top 10 results for this weekend:

1. Breaking Dawn Part 1 - $16,900,000
2. The Muppets - $11,200,000
3. Hugo - $7,625,000
4. Arthur Christmas - $7,350,000
5. Happy Feet - $6,000,000
