Weekend Box Office Update

2012/01/08 22:37:31 +00:00 | Jonathan James

The Devil Inside easily won the weekend, earning $34. 5 million. Considering the fact that the movie's budget was under $1 million, this is a big win for Paramount, even when you factor in marketing costs.

With that being said, it is being reported that the film earned a rare "F" CinemaScore, which means that the majority of polled audience members did not have a favorable opinion of the movie after leaving the theater. It will be interesting to see what kind of drop off this film will have next weekend and how that affects sequel plans.

Next weekend sees the wide release of Contraband, Beauty and the Beast (3D), and the limited release of The Divide and We Need to Talk About Kevin. Here are the top 10 box office results for this weekend:

1.  The Devil Inside - $34,500,000
