21 Jump Street easily took the top spot at the box office this weekend, earning an estimated $35 million. Sony was so happy with the film's performance on Friday, that they already started moving forward with sequel plans. As positive as most genre critics were about John Carter, strong word of mouth didn't result in better business for the movie in its second weekend. With an estimated production budget of $250 million, it has only earned a total of $53.1 million.

An interesting item on this weekend's top 10 is Will Ferrell's Casa De Mi Padre, which earned $2.2 million in only 382 theaters. We'd expect Lionsgate to expand its theater count next week. The big opening next weekend is The Hunger Games, which has been tracking better than the Twilight sequels. Lionsgate is releasing the movie on 4,000 screens, and with very little competition, we expect it to pass The Lorax's $70 million opening.

Here are the top 10 results for this weekend:

1. 21 Jump Street - $35,000,000
2. The Lorax - $22,800,000
3. John Carter - $13,515,000
4. Project X - $4,005,000
5. A Thousand Words  - $3,750,000
6. Act of Valor - $3,678,000
7. Safe House - $2,800,000
8. Journey 2: The Mysterious Island - $2,460,000
9. Casa De Mi Padre - $2,200,000
10. This Means War - $2,125,000
