If you've been dying for more horror hijinks in the world of 2014's vampire mockumentary What We Do in the Shadows, then you're in luck, because a TV series spinoff featuring two supporting characters from the film has been announced.
Radio New Zealand News reports that a six-episode What We Do in the Shadows spinoff series titled Paranormal Event Response Unit is moving forward at New Zealand On Air. Developed by What We Do in the Shadows filmmakers (and stars) Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi, the series will focus on Officer O'Leary and Officer Minogue, the two police officers portrayed by Karen O'Leary and Mike Minogue, respectively.
In the show, the officers will "keep us safe from supernatural phenomena in their own police reality series." Paranormal Event Response Unit will work with a $1.4 million budget from NZOA, and the series is expected to premiere sometime next year on TVNZ 2. Waititi himself took to Twitter to confirm the news (see below).
Many What We Do in the Shadows fans have also been hoping to see more progress on We're Wolves, a potential spinoff starring the werewolves from the film, but there's no status update on that project at this time.
Are you excited to see a What We Do in the Shadows spinoff series? For those unfamiliar with the movie, we have its official synopsis and trailer below. Stay tuned to Daily Dead for more updates.
What We Do in the Shadows synopsis: "Viago, Deacon, and Vladislav are vampires who are finding that modern life has them struggling with the mundane—like paying rent, keeping up with the chore wheel, trying to get into nightclubs, and overcoming roommate conflicts."
The cops from Shadows are getting their own TV show. Think Mulder & Scully but in a country where nothing happens.https://t.co/fxYQhheWPG
