While the Ju-on series continues on in Japan, The Grudge stopped in 2009 after a third movie that failed to impress. Fans may be happy to learn that it's not the last we've seen of this franchise, as Ghost House Pictures and Good Universe are planning a relaunch.

According to Deadline, Midnight Meat Train writer Jeff Buhler will write the script for the new movie, with Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert, and Taka Ichise producing. Roy Lee, Doug Davison, Joe Drake and Nathan Kahane are also set as executive producers. There's no word on Ju-on creator and The Grudge director Takashi Shimizu's involvement, but this is a very early announcement, so we'll keep Daily Dead readers posted on any future developments.
