With Machete Kills starting production this month, we thought we were done with casting announcements, but it is being reported that Zoe Saldana will appear in the film.While there is no mention of what role she'll be playing, Danny Trejo let her appearance slip during a recent interview with Moviehole:
"The sequel to Machete, Machete Kills is going to be a lot more over-the-top than Machete. We’ve got Sofia Vergara, who is a star in her own right, Jessica Alba, Michelle Rodriguez, and Zoe Saldana – and guess what? I get to kiss all of ‘em."
Machete Kills stars Danny Trejo, Michelle Rodriguez, Mel Gibson, Sofia Vergara, Demian Bichir, Amber Heard, and Jessica Alba. While the synopsis for the film has already been released, Robert Rodriguez mentioned last week that the story has changed from the early ideas they had when Machete was originally released:
“That synopsis we put out is misdirection — it’s all fake. Machete is recruited by the President, that’s true, but there’s no cartel leader and the weapon in space is just one of our early story ideas. That said, there is still a space element, for sure. We’ve given the character a much bigger playground. It’s going to be like a James Bond movie, with a Bond-style villain.”
Here is the previously released official synopsis: “The new film finds Machete recruited by the U.S. Government for a mission which would be impossible for any mortal man. Machete must battle his way through Mexico to take down a madman cartel leader and an eccentric billionaire arms dealer who has hatched a plan to spread war across the planet with a weapon in space. Machete takes on an army in an effort to dismantle a plan for global anarchy.”
