Although Vincent Price is remembered by many as the master of horror films, the legendary actor also had another passion in life: food. Beginning this September, the Alamo Drafthouse cinema chain will commemorate the 50th anniversary of Vincent and Mary Price's cookbook, A Treasury of Great Recipes.

Kicking off in Houston, TX, on September 27th, the 50th anniversary celebration tour of A Treasury of Great Recipes will feature special screenings of The Abominable Dr. Phibes with Vincent and Mary's daughter, Victoria Price, in attendance and wonderful recipes from the Price cookbook on the menu.

Press Release: "Austin, TX--- August 21, 2015 --- The Alamo Drafthouse is pleased to announce a one-of-a-kind touring food and film event honoring the 50th anniversary edition of Vincent and Mary Price's A Treasury of Great Recipes. During the months of September and October, Alamo Drafthouse locations nationwide will host THE ABOMINABLE DR. PHIBES Feast, featuring a screening of the Vincent Price classic paired with a delectable multi-course feast using recipes from the book. Topping each evening off, Victoria Price - daughter of Vincent and Mary - will be in person sharing memories of her father before the film with her multi-media presentation "Explore, Savor, Celebrate: Life with Vincent Price."

"Collaborating with Alamo Drafthouse to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of my parents' iconic cookbook is a dream come true!! I am genuinely excited about sharing stories about my family legacy with audiences around the country," says Price. "My parents created this cookbook to share their philosophy of living and eating: Explore, Savor, Celebrate! Which is exactly what we will all be doing at Alamo Drafthouse as we come together to savor great food, celebrate by watching my father's movies, and explore the stories of my parents' lives and legacy! It doesn't get any better than that!"

In 1965, Mary and Vincent Price published A Treasury of Great Recipes -- now regarded as the one of the world's most beloved cookbooks. The book features recipes collected by Vincent and Mary at restaurants around the world, including original menus from classic restaurants and photographs by the great William Claxton. It has come to be regarded as "one of the most important culinary events of the 20th century" (Saveur Magazine) and was recently named the eighth most popular out-of-print book of any kind by Booklist.

Tickets to the event include five-courses of culinary delights - all using recipes from the book and served directly to guests' seats.

"It was a pretty cool opportunity to work with the A Treasury of Great Recipes cookbook as my main inspiration for THE ABOMINABLE DR. PHIBES food and film event," says Alamo Drafthouse Chef Trish Eichelberger. "The book is a classic compilation of great menus, recipes and insight by Price himself. I thoroughly enjoyed the various restaurant menus included and the pictures of Vincent and Mary's house are great windows into the couple's life, and how important good food and hospitality were to them. I'd love to keep repeating this event, as the book is almost boundless with inspiration. I am beside myself with excitement to meet Victoria Price and get even more of a peek in the lives of Vincent and Mary."

THE ABOMINABLE DR. PHIBES is a gleefully macabre tale of love, madness and revenge with Vincent Price staring the titular as Dr. Anton Phibes. It's arguably Price's single most triumphant role -- even though he doesn't say a single word onscreen. The movie itself provides a perfect complement to Price's ghoulish presence as Phibes, as gorgeous production design makes every demented set piece a work or art.

Individual Feast tickets are available in advance, as well as a ticket option that includes both the Feast and a copy of A Treasury of Great Recipes. After the film, Victoria will be available to sign copies of both the cookbook and her book, Vincent Price: A Daughter's Biography.
