"From out of space, a warning and an ultimatum." Over sixty years after its initial release, the 1951 sci-fi classic The Day the Earth Stood Still is still as relevant as ever. Highly regarded both for its entertainment value and its social commentary about the dangers of humanity's increasing violence and development of nuclear weapons, the film's legacy is now preserved in action figure form.

Figures.com recently unveiled the next release in Amok Time's "Monstarz" toy line, which features the alien Klaatu and his robot protector Gort from The Day the Earth Stood Still. The humanoid alien who visits Earth and tells humanity to shape up or be eliminated by outside forces, the Klaatu figure stands four inches tall, has seven points of articulation, and comes with two different heads, one of his human-like face and another of his helmet. His ray-shooting robot companion Gort stands slightly taller at five inches, with five points of articulation. Both figures are scaled at 3.75 inches. Scheduled to hit shelves this August, you can pre-order the Gort and Klaatu Retro Figure Set at AmokTime.com for $29.99. We have photos of the action figures that you can check out now, via Figures.com:
