The latest edition of the Indie Spotlight contains all of the recent independent horror news sent our way. In this feature, we have a look at a Behind the Mask Leslie Vernon action figure, details on an upcoming screening of Teller's Play Dead, multiple trailers, and more:

Behind the Mask's Leslie Vernon Action Figure: "This Rhode Island based toy company has their first line of licensed product out that will surely be a surprise to quite a few horror fans out there. Based on the character from the 2006 movie “Behind the Mask, The Rise of Leslie Vernon”. They have just released their 7” action figure and limited edition reproductions of the mask & scythe props from the movie.

It’s one of the best horror movies in the last 10 years and we’re very excited to have this as our first license says president Neal DeConte who started the company in 2011. “We’re trying to do things that you won’t see from other toy companies out there, I love the obscure stuff, always have and always will” he goes onto say.

“I just got the figure and I’m shocked and delighted. It’s just so perfect I can’t believe it” says Nathan Baesel who played Leslie in the movie.

Other upcoming releases will be their 10” statue of Kane Hodder as the first of their “Cinematic Heroes” line and Spider One, lead singer from the band Powerman 5000 and the Finland based band Lordi as the first of their music series."

Teaser Trailer for Night of the Krampus: "Independent film production group Fighting Owl Films has released a brief teaser trailer for Night of the Krampus, a holiday-themed short film that's currently in production. Night of the Krampus is a thirty-minute follow-up to the company's popular feature film, The Night Shift. In Night of the Krampus, cemetery caretaker Rue Morgan, skeletal sidekick Herbie, and Rue's crush Claire venture out of the graveyard and into suburbia to investigate why all of the town's "naughty" children are disappearing in the weeks leading up to Christmas Eve. Are these random kidnappings, or could there be something more supernatural in play? This unique and humorous look at Santa's little-known "helper," Krampus, is sure to delight audiences of all ages...and maybe remind the little ones of the importance of being good!

Night of the Krampus promises to be an action-packed, rollicking good time for the entire family. The cast includes Khristian Fulmer (Rue Morgan), Soren Odom (Herbie), and Erin Lilley (Claire) from the original film, as well as Brendon Cooke, Luke Curley, Chloe Dykes, Talaine Lyle, and Nathan Smith."

About the Author - Tamika Jones

Tamika hails from North Beach, Maryland, a tiny town inches from the Chesapeake Bay.She knew she wanted to be an actor after reciting a soliloquy by Sojourner Truth in front of her entire fifth grade class. Since then, she's appeared in over 20 film and television projects. In addition to acting, Tamika is the Indie Spotlight manager for Daily Dead, where she brings readers news on independent horror projects every weekend.

The first horror film Tamika watched was Child's Play. Being eight years old at the time, she remembers being so scared when Chucky came to life that she projectile vomited. It's tough for her to choose only one movie as her favorite horror film, so she picked two: Nosferatu and The Stepford Wives (1975).
