I absolutely loved The Final Girls when I caught it during the Stanley Film Festival earlier this year, and I can't wait for Daily Dead readers to check out. We were told to expect it out by Halloween and we now have release details for the movie that is so much more than your typical slasher comedy.

"The Final Girls is an unconventional comedy about Max, a high school senior, who is mysteriously transported with her friends into a 1980s horror film that starred Max’s mother, a celebrated scream queen. Trapped inside the movie, Max finds herself reunited with her mom, who she lost in real life. Together with Max’s friends, they must fend off the camp counselors’ raging hormones, battle a deranged machete-wielding killer and find a way to escape the movie and make it back home."

Directed by Todd Strauss-Schulson, The Final Girls stars Taissa Farmiga, Malin Akerman, Alexander Ludwig, Nina Dobrev, Alia Shawkat, Thomas Middleditch, and Adam Devine

EW revealed that Stage 6 Films, who are teaming up with Vertical Entertainment, are releasing The Final Girls in theaters and VOD on October 9th. If it's playing in your area, definitely seek this one out on the big screen. Keep an eye out for theater listings, exclusive interviews, and more leading up to the movie's October release.
