Do you have nightmares about Bill Lumbergh telling you to put new cover sheets on your TPS reports? For some, the corporate cubicle setting is as horrifying as the creepy boiler rooms that Freddy Krueger haunts in the A Nightmare on Elm Street movies. Script excerpts and storyboards for an imagined tenth film in the Elm Street franchise show Freddy tormenting a coma patient by placing him in a mind-numbing office environment where meaningless meetings, tear-inducing small talk, and countless hours of hellish tasks reign supreme, with no escape in sight. Also included in our latest round-up are Blu-ray / DVD release details and cover art for the Salma Hayek-starring Everly and information on the 20 recently announced Star Wars books that will take place in the time period between Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi and Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens.

A Nightmare on Elm Street Office-Set Faux Script: Steve DiMatteo and his team at the online comedy magazine, Robot Butt, put together a faux leaked script for A Nightmare on Elm Street 10: Freddy's Magnum Opus. Through storyboards, script excerpts, and even a poster, Freddy Krueger tortures 25-year-old John Hope by turning his coma into a lifelike job in the office of a napkin distribution company. John experiences over 40 years of simulated cubicle existence with Freddy disguised as his Bill Lumbergh-esque boss. We have a look at some of the frightening feature's highlights below. To read the full piece, visit:

"Over the course of the ensuing forty years, Freddy shapes John’s comatose dreams into an ultra-realistic portrayal of John living out his life as an office worker at a napkin distribution company. And with Freddy setting himself up as John’s direct supervisor, Mr. Reynolds, John (and the audience) are truly in for some thrills and chills.

Just look at this page from the leaked script:"

"In one particularly horrific scene from the leaked script and storyboards, Krueger forces his victim to attend a coworker’s birthday party where John is left to stand uncomfortably for fifteen minutes while pretending to enjoy a slice of stale grocery store cake. Later, as Freddy turns up the heat on his victim, he brings in a new coworker who thrives on small talk, leaving no way for John to ever escape the conversation."

New Star Wars Books: Entertainment Weekly reports that a minimum of 20 new books bridging the gap between 1983's Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi and Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens will be published and released this fall by Disney Worldwide Publishing, Lucasfilm Press, Del Rey, DK, Marvel Comics, Studio Fun International and at least two other publishing houses.

These new books, ranging from stickerbooks to novels and collectively referred to as the Journey to Star Wars: The Force Awakens books, will be considered part of the Star Wars canon, with some titles expected to directly connect with certain aspects of J.J. Abrams' film and the upcoming standalone movies. Novelists secretly worked with the screenwriters of the Star Wars films to ensure that plot details, character development, and major events all mesh together seamlessly.

The list of titles have not yet been revealed in its entirety, but the following books have been confirmed:

  • Star Wars: Aftermath from Del Rey.
  • Star Wars: Journey to the Force Awakens, a prequel story from Marvel Comics.
  • A story from C-3PO's point of view, also from Marvel Comics.
  • Star Wars: Ships of the Galaxy from Studio Fun International.
  • Young-adult-targeted retellings of A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi from the point of view of supporting characters.
  • Moving Target, a Princess Leia-centric tale by author Cecil Castellucci.
  • The Weapon of a Jedi, a story following Luke Skywalker by Darth Maul: Shadow Conspiracy author Jason Fry.
  • Lost Stars, by author Claudia Gray.
  • Smuggler’s Run, a Han Solo story from author Greg Rucka.

In accordance with Lucasfilm's announcement last year, previously released Star Wars novels, short stories, comics, and video games will not be considered canon moving forward, so these 20 new titles look to be the ultimate word on what happens during the time gap of Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. It will be interesting to see if other prolific Star Wars scribes like Timothy Zahn (Scoundrels, The Thrawn trilogy) will factor into this new publishing endeavor. Stay tuned to Daily Dead for further details.
