Fans of Stephen King will be happy to hear that Mile High Horror Film Festival is screening Dan Attias' Silver Bullet. Also: details on Danai Gurira's (Michonne, The Walking Dead) charity and an update on the DVD release of A Plague So Pleasant.

Silver Bullet: Press Release: "Denver, CO -- This past month, the Mile High Horror Film Festival has been making exciting announcements in our media partnership with FANGORIA, including a live edition of FANGORIA's WE'LL SEE YOU IN HELL Podcast, a 30th Anniversary VHS Screening of THE RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD with a live Q&A with Linnea Quigley as well as Mile High's 90th Anniversary screening of THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA with an appearance from Ron Chaney. However, in our joint efforts to bring fright fans an essential horror fest experience, MHHFF '15 and FANGORIA are proud to exclusively announce another pair of events to help kick off the Halloween Season at the Alamo Drafthouse in Littleton, Colorado from Thursday, October 1st to Sunday, October 4th.

First off, Mile High Horror Film Festival is excited to announce the confirmed line-up for our LGBT panel, in which prolific voices in the LGBT community will assemble to talk about their unique relationship to the horror genre. Current guests on the panel include FINAL DESTINATION creator Jeffrey Reddick and FANGORIA's own BLOOD LUST hostess Bailey Jay (who will be appearing via Skype), and will be moderated by Colorado-based film programmer and THE HEELS HAVE EYES documentarian Keith Garcia. This one-night-only panel looks to be a highly-anticipated and engaging addition to the festival's exciting line-up, so fright fans should look out for more details soon and schedule accordingly.

Our second announcement is one that doesn't come around quite that often and will be undoubtedly exciting for fans of Stephen King as Mile High Horror Film Festival is screening Dan Attias' werewolf flick SILVER BULLET, presented by the upcoming monster self-help book from Skyhorse Publishing, THE I IN EVIL and hosted by FANGORIA's Ken W. Hanley (in character as his literary alter-ego). SILVER BULLET will be screened on 35mm and will be preceded by a short introductory seminar on werewolf behavioral etiquette. Expect more details on this 30th Anniversary Screening of SILVER BULLET once the full schedule for MHHFF 2015 is revealed.

With only 6 weeks until the Mile High Horror Film Festival 2015, expect more exciting announcements in the coming days! Don't be left dead stiff at the box office, though: Membership Passes to the festival are still available while Individual Tickets go on sale in early September.

The Walking Dead Fundraiser: Press Release: "In the latest video promoting Danai Gurira’s “The Walking Dead Fan Experience” fundraiser on CrowdRise, co-stars Norman Reedus and Andrew Lincoln show their support in the most affectionate way. Within moments of "The Walking Dead" stars cozying up on a loveseat, Reedus shows just how much he loves Danai’s charity. Gurira announces that her fans have an opportunity to win a brand new Samsung Galaxy S6 edge phone with exclusive photos and a video of her and the cast by donating $15 at www.crowdrise.com/walkingdead. The Samsung phone contest runs August 18-30th.

The Samsung phone is an additional incentive for people donating to Gurira’s already prize filled CrowdRise campaign. Donors are also given the opportunity to win a trip to New York City to be Gurira’s guest at the Season 6 premiere of the show at Madison Square Garden along with a visit to Atlanta, GA, to tour some of the show’s famous past sites and have lunch with Gurira. “The Walking Dead” experience will continue with a weapons training session, zombie makeover, and a take-home “Go Bag” full of disaster survival gear.

All proceeds from the contest go to Almasi Arts Alliance which, as Lincoln remarks, is a “great charity” co-founded by Gurira to help African Artists. Their video, which includes kisses and some tongue, perfectly represents how individuals can use CrowdRise to creatively fundraise and have the most fun while doing it. To see the clip or to donate for a chance to win even more exclusive behind-the-scenes videos on a new Samsung phone, visit crowdrise.com/walkingdead.

A Plague So Pleasant: Press Release: "New York, NY - Wild Eye Releasing has announced a date change for their latest cinematic epidemic. A Plague So Pleasant will now infect home entertainment systems beginning September 29th. A more dangerous strain than recent efforts, the film has been hailed by undead aficionados as "a miraculous accomplishment" (Zombie Guide Magazine), "an Excellent, Original Zombie Movie" (ZMDB.com), and "so much better than the average straight to video zombie travesty" (The Rotting Zombie).

In the near future, zombies have become a protected, endangered species, held in captivity and legally wandering the streets free from harm by the living. But for the loved ones of those who die, sometimes coping is just too much to handle, especially when not everyone feels the dead have a right to exist and are willing to break the law to rid the world of this new population of the dead.

The DVD release of A Plague So Pleasant (SRP $19.95) will exclusively include promos and trailers."

About the Author - Tamika Jones

Tamika hails from North Beach, Maryland, a tiny town inches from the Chesapeake Bay.She knew she wanted to be an actor after reciting a soliloquy by Sojourner Truth in front of her entire fifth grade class. Since then, she's appeared in over 20 film and television projects. In addition to acting, Tamika is the Indie Spotlight manager for Daily Dead, where she brings readers news on independent horror projects every weekend.

The first horror film Tamika watched was Child's Play. Being eight years old at the time, she remembers being so scared when Chucky came to life that she projectile vomited. It's tough for her to choose only one movie as her favorite horror film, so she picked two: Nosferatu and The Stepford Wives (1975).
