Ever run around your house in a frenzy looking for misplaced car keys? It can be quite a frustration-fueled adrenaline rush. Now imagine looking for a key and being confined to one room with eleven other people... and one zombie chained to the wall. Room Escape Adventures, an interactive theater production company, traps twelve people in a room with a chained zombie and gives them one hour to find the hidden key to unlock their freedom. It's team building with a twist.
Open Wednesday – Sunday in eleven cities for $28 a ticket, Room Escape Adventures offers a unique date night or outing with friends. Once you and your friends and perhaps some strangers (depending on how many people are around to fill the 12-person room limit) are locked in the room, a one-hour countdown begins. Clues can be found hidden in the room, and puzzles and riddles must be solved to get closer to figuring out where the key to the door and your freedom is located.
To make the situation even more frantic, the chain holding the zombie is loosened by a foot every five minutes, and if this crawling member of the living dead touches you, then you are required to sit down where the simulated bite occurred, taking your mobility out of the game but not your vocal cords, as you can still give your uninfected trapped roommates verbal advice.
"Prepare to be locked in a room with up to 11 other people and a Zombie that is chained to the wall! Hidden in the room is a key that will unlock the door to your freedom. To find the key you must locate numerous clues and solve riddles. Every five minutes the hungry Zombie’s chain will be released another foot. Within an hour, the Zombie will be able to reach you. You have 60 minutes to the find clues, solve the puzzles, unlock the door and escape the room without getting eaten! Are you smarter than a Zombie? Find out!"
