Fox must be really happy with Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, because not only have they brought back director Matt Reeves for the next installment, but they've already set a release date.
Currently going by the working title of Planet of the Apes 3, Fox will bring the movie to theaters on July 29th, 2016. At this time, no other movie is set to open on that weekend, but that's likely to change between now and then. Other movies set to open in July, 2016 include Independence Day 2 on July 1st, an untitled Marvel movie on July 8th, and Ice Age 5 on July 15th.
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes will be released on July 11th of this year and stars Jason Clarke, Gary Oldman, Keri Russell, Toby Kebbell, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Enrique Murciano, Kirk Acevedo and Judy Greer. Here's a look at the recently released trailer:
“A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.”
