The Weinstein Company has announced the purchase of a 25% stake in Starz Media, allowing them to work with Anchor Bay Entertainment (a Starz company) on DVD/Blu-Ray releases:

"The home/digital entertainment deal, which does not include television rights but spans Blu-ray™, DVD and EST/VOD/PPV electronic/digital distribution, covers up to 20 TWC and Dimension titles per year including ...

...upcoming sequels in the successful Scream, Spy Kids, and Scary Movie franchises, and new installments in the Hellraiser, Halloween, and Children of the Corn film series."

Anchor Bay has consistently been releasing horror titles for years and this will help strengthen their catalog and brand. I'll be interested in seeing what The Weinstein Company's future horror plans are as they seem to be investing heavily on the genre and their existing properties.
