Adam Green (Hatchet) has written a script based on author Greg Taylor's Killer Pizza, and MGM is in the process of acquiring it, with plans for a film adaptation. According to Deadline, Chris Columbus took the project to MGM, who have been looking for something along the lines of Gremlins and Goonies.
Adam Green mentioned on his Facebook page that Chris Columbus will serve as producer. Although not confirmed, it sounds like Green will be directing if MGM moves forward with Killer Pizza:
"...I thought I'd point out that last year at this exact time I was barricaded up at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas (where I often lock myself away to write) working on the first draft of the script. Serendipity? We'll see how it all pans out but I've got high hopes for this project and the process so far has been a joy. Thanks for all of the well wishes and support. The world could use a fun movie like this and having a producer like Chris Columbus behind it means there is a very real chance. Fingers are crossed."
Originally published in 2009, Killer Pizza is about a teenage boy who works at a pizza parlor, which is actually a front for monster hunters:
