Back in November it was announced that Lennie James' character Morgan would cross over from AMC's The Walking Dead to Fear The Walking Dead. While behind-the-scenes photos of James on the companion series' set were unveiled soon after that announcement, EW has now given fans a new look at Morgan in the apocalyptic world of Fear The Walking Dead Season 4.
Unveiled exclusively by EW, the new photos show Morgan ready to do battle with his trusty staff that he acquired while living with Eastman (John Carroll Lynch). While the exact timeline of Fear The Walking Dead Season 4 (which is filming in Austin, Texas) has yet to be revealed, the appearance of Morgan's staff indicates that in chronological terms of The Walking Dead, the story will be taking place at least after season 3, because Morgan acquired the staff and became much more sane thanks to the teachings of Eastman after his run-in with Rick in the third season.
With Dave Erickson now working on another project for AMC, Ian Goldberg and Andrew Chambliss have taken over as the new showrunners for Fear The Walking Dead Season 4, with The Walking Dead showrunner Scott M. Gimple on board as executive producer.
Here's what Chambliss had to say about James bringing Morgan onto Fear The Walking Dead:
"As Morgan Jones steps into the world of FTWD, he’ll be continuing the journey he began on The Walking Dead way back in the pilot."
Chamblis also discussed James' hopes for his character as he makes the transition to Fear The Walking Dead:
"When we first met Lennie, he impressed upon us how much he cared about the character and how important it was to him for us to take Morgan to places we hadn’t seen before."
We'll have to wait and see just what those places will be when the fourth season premieres sometime this year. In the meantime, you can check out the new photos below (courtesy of Richard Foreman, Jr. / AMC via EW), and stay tuned to Daily Dead for more updates.
