It was only a matter of time... Since its inception, Fear The Walking Dead has been set in the same dead new world as The Walking Dead. While distance and different timeframes have separated Madison and her family from Rick Grimes and his group of survivors, it was announced in October that we're going to see a character cross over from one series to the other, and now that character has been revealed.

Announced on Talking Dead and the official Twitter account of Fear The Walking Dead, the character of Morgan, played by Lennie James, will appear in Fear The Walking Dead Season 4, and based on his conversation with Chris Hardwick on Talking Dead, he could also be leaving the cast of The Walking Dead (at least temporarily or perhaps permanently). Here's what he had to say about the transition (via EW):

“The hardest part of it from beginning until now has been leaving The Walking Dead; leaving that cast and leaving that crew. And I’ve said my goodbyes to the cast and stuff, and I’ve said my goodbyes to the crew...

Earlier this year, Fear The Walking Dead was renewed for a fourth season that will premiere in 2018 and will see The Walking Dead showrunner Scott M. Gimple come on board as an executive producer, with Ian Goldberg and Andrew Chambliss taking over the showrunner reigns following the departure of Dave Erickson, who will develop other projects for AMC.

On the latest episode of Talking Dead, Hardwick also read a message from Gimple regarding Morgan's big move (via EW):

“Even though Morgan is going to be featured on Fear, he still has a lot of story left on The Walking Dead.” (That, of course, could just mean in the rest of season 8.) Gimple also explained that “Morgan’s arc on The Walking Dead season 8 positioned him for the story on Fear. It was also important too see Fear’s world and characters through new yet familiar eyes.”

The events of Fear The Walking Dead Season 3 left the fates of the core characters—other than Kim Dickens' Madison—unknown near the border of Texas and Mexico. While official details about Morgan's appearance in The Walking Dead companion series have yet to be announced, we could potentially see Morgan in the months after he first met Rick Grimes in the first episode, but Gimple's message also hints at a potential leap in time for the companion series.

James officially joins the season 4 cast of Fear The Walking Dead on Monday, November 27th, and you can watch a livestream of his first day on set on Fear The Walking Dead's Twitter account beginning at 4:00pm ET.
