Last week, Daily Dead Editor-in-Chief Jonathan James was invited by Warner Bros. to Mexico for an event in support of The Nun. Taking place at the Ex-Convento del Desierto de Los Leones, an abandoned 17th-century convent about an hour outside of Mexico City, the immersive event took Jonathan and a group of fellow journalists on a frightening journey through the convent's creepy confines, and their eerie experience was captured on video for Daily Dead readers to enjoy from the comfort of their own couches... far away from Valak's supernatural grasp.
Along with seeing a special screening of The Nun inside of the abandoned convent and talking with cast and crew members from the film, Jonathan and the rest of the journalists took part in an immersive experience that was part escape room and part haunted attraction. Led by nuns, the group was taken to an eerie altar, through claustrophobic catacombs, and into a spooky cemetery where there was one person in particular who wasn't resting in peace (thank goodness for grave bells!).
Just like in the new movie, the demonic Valak's malevolent forces were at work throughout the event, creating a cinematic experience not unlike what viewers can look forward to seeing on the big screen when The Nun haunts theaters on September 7th.
Enjoy the video from the immersive event below, and stay tuned to Daily Dead for more highlights from The Nun Mexico experience, including a roundtable interview with director Corin Hardy!
