A film that I have spent many, many hours poring over in my head ever since I first had the chance to see it at this year’s Fantastic Fest, Luca Guadagnino’s Suspiria (2018) is the purest example of a true cinematic experience, a bold and rapturous reimagining of the feature's breathtaking performances from Dakota Johnson, Tilda Swinton, Mia Goth, and Chloë Grace Moretz. Suspiria (2018) recently opened in both New York and Los Angeles, and is set to hit theaters nationwide this weekend.
During a recent press day, Daily Dead had the opportunity to speak with several of the key players from the new Suspiria. In our first video interview for the film, Guadagnino discussed how he considers himself a leader of the legions of fans out there for both Dario Argento and his 1977 Suspiria, and how his reimagining of the classic film was his way of continuing to carry the banner for the influential film that he has greatly admired for so many years.
Johnson talked about how she prepared for the role of Susie Bannion on a physical level and tapped into the internal transformation she undergoes throughout Suspiria (2018), as Susie becomes aware of the energies surrounding her at the Tanz Academy.
Check out our video interview with both Guadagnino and Johnson below, and look for more on Suspiria (2018) throughout the rest of the week.
